Goodwin University Magnet Schools Expands Partnership with General Dynamics Electric Boat

Goodwin University Magnet School System (GUMSS) has announced a major expansion of its partnership with General Dynamics Electric Boat (EB).

Under this expanded partnership, EB will serve as the official sponsor of the manufacturing and engineering pathway across the school district, which includes Connecticut River Academy, Early College Advanced Manufacturing Pathway (ECAMP), Riverside Magnet School, and Connecticut’s first technical magnet high school, RiverTech. 

Prior to this expansion, EB partnered with Goodwin University Magnet School System to run its “Boat for Kids” program in southeastern Connecticut and Rhode Island. “Boat for Kids” is an educational outreach program that introduces elementary students to manufacturing and shipbuilding trades.

Additionally, EB is a founding sponsor of RiverTech’s business center, which is currently under construction. As a founding member, EB will have an ongoing presence through anchor space within the business center, where their employees can collaborate with teachers, staff, and students.

 “From elementary to high school, our students have opportunities to earn industry credentials and up to an associate’s degree by linking EB’s expertise to our schools; we are giving our students another competitive advantage as they prepare for future careers," said Dr. Salvatore Menzo, Superintendent of Goodwin University Magnet School System.

“Our students are exposed to high-quality academics, given opportunities to explore different career pathways, and experience specialized hands-on programming before graduating from high school,” he added.
