Insuring the Future, A Confernce on Climate Change and Insurance, in Hartford September 30
/The Connecticut Insurance Department (CID) and CT Insurance & Financial Services (CT IFS) are joining forces for this second annual Insuring the Future, to be held in Hartford on September 30.
This collaborative effort will bring together insurance regulators, government leaders, and industry experts to share insights on climate risk, innovation, and technology for Insuring the Future.
Panels during the full-day program include Managing the Economic and Social Risks of Climate Change, Climate Risk Compliance & Technical Resilience, The Health Impacts of Climate Change & Insurance Solutions, and Innovative Insurance Solutions for Climate Resilience. The agenda also includes a “fireside chat,” exploring the "how" of building and funding climate-resilient communities.
Experts from across sectors will share strategies for channeling investments into sustainability, equity, and decarbonization, with a focus on supporting low-income and climate-impacted neighborhoods. The discussion will highlight real-world examples of where investments are being made, who is driving them, and what it takes to build community resilience from the ground up.

The Connecticut Insurance Department explains that "Insuring The Future" aims to “foster partnerships and inspire actionable solutions. By bringing together environmental and climate change experts, insurance industry leaders, government officials, and policymakers from around the world, we seek to address what needs to be done as a global community to combat the climate crisis and safeguard our future.”
This year’s program includes in-depth discussions on financing resilient communities, addressing the economic and health impacts of climate change, and the evolution of regulatory standards for climate risk disclosure, materiality assessments, and the utilization of catastrophe models.
Attendees will hear from experts across several sectors including housing, healthcare, reinsurance, and risk modeling, highlighting practical solutions, cross-sector partnerships, and innovations that help protect people, property, and communities.
