Leaving Connecticut? Probably Headed to FL, NY or MA; More Residents Coming to CT Than Leaving for NY or MA

Where’s everybody going?  According to data recently released by the U.S. Census Bureau, people leaving Connecticut during 2023 headed to Florida, New York and Massachusetts more than anywhere else.

The top ten states where Connecticut residents relocated to were Florida, New York, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Virginia, California, Texas and New Jersey, according to the estimates

Florida, New York and Massachusetts were head and shoulders above the rest, with nearly 16,000, just over 15,000, and just over 10,000 respectively relocating to those states.

Interestingly, just over 13,400 Massachusetts residents relocated to Connecticut during the year,  while 10,400 Connecticut residents relocated to Massachusetts. Likewise, 28,100 New York residents moved to Connecticut, while 15,100 Connecticut residents moved to New York, according to the census data on relocation during 2023.

While 7,400 Floridians related to Connecticut, more than twice as many, 15,700 relocated south to the Sunshine State.

The data came from the 2023 American Community Survey’s 1-Year Estimates.
