“Lithium-ion battery fires are very dangerous. Water may not prevent a battery from burning and spreading. Battery cells are known to explode and quickly spread to another battery. Fire Extinguishers do not work on lithium-ion batteries fires.” As a state, Connecticut has yet to take action, according to the state’s non-partisan research office. A new safety regulation took effect in New York City in September, and an increasing number of local officials in Connecticut are warning local residents of the dangers.
