Frontier to Provide High-Speed Fiber Internet to New Haven Education Nonprofit

Frontier has announced plans to donate high-speed fiber internet to New Haven-based nonprofit DAE through the company’s Broadband for Good program. The donation will provide DAE with a fast, reliable connection to support its Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education and development programs for underserved members of the community.

DAE designs and delivers educational programs and cultural experiences that “serve as a catalyst for transformation in the lives of individuals and communities that have been historically and systemically under-resourced.”

Broadband for Good is Frontier’s community impact program dedicated to promoting digital inclusion.  Officials noted that “as we connect more people across Connecticut—and the country—to our high-speed fiber internet, we are donating along the way to organizations that are making a positive impact in the local communities we serve.”

DAE is expanding access to STEM opportunities for high schoolers and adults in Connecticut. The organization prepares learners of all backgrounds with the digital and personal development skills they need to pursue higher education in STEM or entry-level, high-growth tech jobs, and it does so in a hands-on, learn-by-doing environment.

“DAE is a standout organization that is breaking down barriers for students to gain the STEM education and training they need to transform their lives,” said Erin Kurtz, Frontier’s Chief Communications Officer. “They are empowering students to use technology to change their community—and the world, and we want to give them the best internet to power that learning.”

“DAE is thrilled to be chosen as Frontier’s next Broadband for Good recipient and receive free high-speed fiber internet,” said A.M. Bhatt, Founder and CEO, DAE. “With so many students using computers for learning at our facility, we use up a lot of bandwidth, and it’s important for us to have fast, reliable connectivity to carry out our courses. This donation will not only also allow us to focus more resources on enhancing our programming, but also consider new programming that wouldn’t have been possible without access to the bandwidth that fiber offers.”

DAE is a Connecticut non-profit providing educational programs that democratize access to 21st century digital career and life skills for high school students and young adults from communities that have been historically and systemically under-resourced.

Headquartered in New Haven with an additional location at Synchrony Skills Academy in Stamford, DAE nurtures world-class technologists through technical and professional training and certificates that serve as a catalyst for transformation.

Youth programs emphasize learn-by-doing development in a collaborative, nurturing environment while the DAE Adult Skills Academy offers a four-month immersion in software engineering. Balancing both the content and the context of learning, DAE strives to develop human beings who are highly technology-fluent and deeply humanity-centric. For more information, visit www.myDAE.org.
