NBC & Telemundo Connecticut Annouce Local Nonprofit Grants

NBC & Telemundo Connecticut and Comcast NBCUniversal announced $227,272 has been awarded to seven local nonprofit organizations through the 2025 NBCUniversal Local Impact Grants. Since 2018, NBC & Telemundo Connecticut have now provided more than $1.7 million to 50 nonprofits through the annual grant program.

For the eighth year, the competitive grant challenge is awarding unrestricted funding to eligible nonprofits making a difference in Connecticut. Applications were accepted in three categories: youth education and empowerment, next generation storytellers, and community engagement. The 2025 application window for 501(c)(3) nonprofits was March 11 through April 11.

The 2025 NBCUniversal Local Impact Grants are providing $2.5 million in funds to nonprofits serving one of NBC- and Telemundo-owned stations’ 11 U.S. markets, which are New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, Boston, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Miami, San Diego and Hartford, Conn. Founded in 2018, NBCUniversal’s grant program has now provided $21 million to 615 nonprofits.

NBCUniversal Local Impact Grants recipients in the Connecticut area are:    

2-4-1 CARE – $51,000 

2-4-1 CARE delivers youth development through sport, promoting physical literacy and emotional growth in their local communities. Their programs are embedded in schools and tailored to support social-emotional learning.  

Afro Caribbean Cultural Center - $51,000 

The Afro Caribbean Cultural Center empowers all youth through creative expression, civic engagement, and leadership development. The center uses theater, storytelling, and visual arts to foster critical thinking, public speaking, and community engagement. 

Community Soup Kitchen of New Haven - $30,000 

CSK provides free meals to anyone in need while fostering community through partnerships and volunteer support. They focus on expanding access to nutritious meals across local neighborhoods. 

Guilford Interfaith Ministries DBA Guilford Interfaith Volunteers - $10,272 

GIV helps homebound and elderly Guilford residents remain independent by providing meals, companionship, and medical equipment. They rely on volunteers to run four key support programs. 

HomeFront - $20,000 

HomeFront mobilizes volunteers to repair homes for low-income families, seniors, and people with disabilities across Connecticut. They foster community engagement through hands-on support and direct service to families in need. 

STEAM Train - $30,000 

STEAM Train moves their community toward STEM opportunities through education, mentoring, and workforce development. Their programs include IT training, engineering camps, and wraparound services. 

Summit Adaptive Sports - $35,000 

Summit Adaptive Sports provides inclusive, adaptive outdoor sports programs for people of all abilities to promote wellness and community integration. Their events and outreach foster empathy and empowerment.
