Voting is now underway in a competitive awards program for nonprofit organizations in the New England states, including Connecticut. The 7th Annual “IMPACT” Awards (Inspiring More Philanthropy Across Charities Together) is presented by the Red Sox Foundation focusing on organizations that have “demonstrated deep impact in raising awareness and improving the mental health outcomes of the young adults in their community.”

The U.S. Center for SafeSport maintains a Centralized Disciplinary Database to keep the public informed when individuals connected with the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Movements, are either subject to temporary restrictions or are subject to sanctions. That database includes the names of 17 individuals who are, or were, Connecticut residents when incidents occurred or disciplinary action was taken.

But that hasn’t prevented the Red Sox Foundation from moving ahead with plans for a competitive awards program for nonprofit organizations in the New England states, including Connecticut. Five Connecticut nonprofits are finalists, seeking fan votes, and the deadline is June 22.

Major League Lacrosse has announced that the league’s newest franchise, the Connecticut Hammerheads, will host their games on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium, which was built in 2015 on the Fairfield University Campus. Play for the 2020 season begins in late May.
